The Spring Schedule
All the following camps will be held at the Powerhouse Community Arts Center.
Spring Break Art Camp
Dates: March 15th-19th
Times: 8 to 5 or 8 to 12
Ages: 3-12
This camp is
will include lots of fun art projects, crafts and games as well as a
movie for full day campers. Campers will spend the week inspired by the
Spring season holidays including St. Patrick's Day, Easter and more Full
day campers need to pack their own lunches.
Prices: YAC Members $100/$170 half day/full day
Non-members $115/$185 half day/full day
Classes and programs

The Summer Schedule
All of the following camps will be
held at the Powerhouse except for the one at the Arena (Horses camp
week). All sessions below include both half day 8am-12noon and full day
options 8am-5pm and are geared for ages 3-12 years (children are split
into 2 groups for art projects geared more to their age groups.) Full day campers need to pack their own lunches.

May 24-28-Early Bird Camp-This
will be a fun survey of all types of art projects throughout the week
giving students a chance to do all kinds of art including painting,
drawing, printmaking, clay, collage and more.
May 31-June 4-Creatures in Art-In
this creative week, we will be inspired by many different artists to
create all kinds of creatures big and small in painting, drawing,
collage, and other media.
June 7-11-Bow Wow Wow-This
camp is going to the dogs! We will explore dogs in art historically and
also do all kinds of art projects inspired by man’s best friend.
June 14-18-Art Around the World-In
honor of flag day on June 14, we will explore different cultures and
make art inspired by those cultures and artists from different
countries.
June 21-25-Horseless horse camp at Lafayette County Arena. We will talk about horses, do art inspired by horses, and participate in horse related camp activities.
June 28-July 2-3-D Art-A
class designed to push creativity outside the box with students working
in clay, paper-mache, and other materials to create art that is not
flat but has dimension to it.
July 5-9-All the Worlds A Stage-Design Edition-A
fun class marrying my love of theater design and art. Kids will learn
about costume and scenic design, try their hand at making little stage
dioramas, props, masks, capes and designing pictures of imaginary worlds
and costumes. We will use those fun costumes and props in the
afternoons (full day option) in fun talent shows and skits to develop
creative expression skills. This is not an acting camp.
July 12-16-Print it Up! A
printmaking survey that introduces students to different types of
printmaking and mark making. This fast paced, fun creative class is
suitable for any child who likes to experiment and make art with all
kinds of materials including stamps, stencils and other objects.
July 19-23-Color your World!-A
rainbow of a week will be experienced as we tie-dye, mix colors, paint,
and learn about color theory and how it can be used in art. Warm and
cool colors, the color wheel and hues, and tints will all be learned
about in fun and interesting ways to create fun and colorful art.
July 26-30- Drawing and Painting-this
back-to-basics class will focus on drawing skills and painting in
different media including watercolor and acrylic/tempera. Children will
learn about proportion, shape, line, and other elements of art.
August 2-6-Last Call Art Camp-Folk Art-Before going back to school, we will learn about famous folk artists and create our own folk-art crafts and paintings.
