The Biggest, Baddest Art Show

The Oxford Artists' Guild presents its annual Biggest, Baddest, Art Show currently exhibiting now through December 14th at the Powerhouse.  The show may be viewed Monday through Friday from 9 - 5.  Over 40 local artists with more than 70 unique, original works varying from pottery, basketry, iron, fabric, wood, and paintings of all media are on display and for sale.  A meet and greet the artists' reception will be held on Tuesday, November 12th from 6 - 8 featuring live music by Bill Perry.  On hand for the reception, will be several of the guild's artisans with original hand-crafted jewelry.

Support the Arts Council

YAC is one of our communities biggest art supporters.  They are relentless in creating opportunities for us a guild, as individual artists, and for the community of art in general.

Upcoming is the ornament auction.  Please make and contribute an ornament to them.  With the donation of an ornament, you will receive a one year YAC membership and two tickets to the ornament auction which will be held on Thursday, December 12.  The auction is a lot of fun!

Some ornaments will be featured in the Invitation.  To be in this, your ornament must be turned in on/by November 11.  It is advisable to wrap your ornament and put it in a container (especially if it is fragile).  The final deadline is December 5.  You may drop off your ornament at the Power House between 9 and 5, Monday through Friday.

Also, there is a contest in which YAC could win a "Van-go" - literally an art van.  This will not cost any money and you don't have to donate.  You just have to vote.

There is a specific day in which you vote.  If you vote on the wrong day, you vote for someone else.  Please ask everyone you know to vote.  They win, we all win.

Here is some specific information:

On November 15th, the Yoknapatawpha Arts Council needs your vote on 100CarsforGood.com sponsored by Toyota.  On Friday November 15th the YAC will try to collect the most votes in order to win a dedicated mobile arts education vehicle that will allow us to take arts education programs and classes into the communities and neighborhoods who need them the most.  The organization with the most votes everyday wins a 2014 Toyota vehicle of our choice- in our case a "Van-Go".

Help us build this program by voting on the website  100CarsForGood.com .  You can go to this site and set a reminder for you to vote for the YAC on the 15th.  You can also SHARE our message from this page and invite your friends to vote as well.

If you have any questions about 100CarsForGood, our program, or our outreach classes please feel free to email YAC or call Stacy at  662-236-6429.

Here is a brief video explaining why the arts are important and how this van will help us do more:

Art Angels

Announcing a campaign for local art teachers.  Money is being raised for a scholarship fund for students with limited resources.  To give back to our community, many local art teachers offer scholarships (free tuition) for students to enroll in our classes. These students would otherwise not be able to participate.  In order to increase the number of scholarships and benefit more students, we are asking for help from our community.  Funds that are donated will be used to buy supplies and increase the number of scholarships.  Participating local teachers are Andi Bedsworth, Bailey Blu, Rhes Lowes (acting), and other Power House teachers.  Please go the link  to assist.          http://igg.me/p/485271/x/4242132
