Oil Painting With Linda Peters - Starts September 22nd
Dates: Tuesdays, September 22nd, 29th, October 6th, 13th, 20th and 27th
Times: 6-8 pm
Ages: 16+
Location: Powerhouse
From beginners to advanced painters, these classes will teach/review the basic needs of oil painting from equipment needed to the application. Each session will focus on the elements of creation – value, shape, and edges. Students will be introduced to a master artist, specifically, the artists currently on exhibit at the Jackson Museum of Art in Jackson, MS.
Session 1: Introduction of oil painting. • Review of equipment and supplies needed. • Exhibit information, Mississippi Museum of Art, Jackson, MS. • Definition of Value, Shape, and Edges in the context of painting. • Getting started with color mixing, applications, and the feel of the canvas. • Free paint time with individual help.
Session 2: How to paint a Value study. • Demo • Meet Claude Monet and Edouard Manet. • Paint a still life using one color of paint. Or free paint time with individual help.
Session 3: Shapes and Color mixing using a limited palette. • Demo • Meet Edgar Degas and Berthe Morisot • Paint still life. Or free paint time.
Session 4: Soft or Hard Edges • Demo • Meet Paul Cezanne, and Paul Gauguin • Paint still life. Or free paint time.
Session 5: Design and introduction to Plein Air Painting • Demo • Meet Vincent van Gogh and Wolf Kaln • Paint still life. Or free paint time.
Session 6: Review of last five weeks. • Favorite master. • Critics • Free paint time.
Price: $120 for members/$135 for non-members

Guided Watercolor Studio with Debbie Myers - Starts September 2nd
Dates: Wednesdays,
September 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th, October 7th, 14th, and 21st
Times: 9-12 pm
Ages: Adult
Location: Lafayette County Multipurpose Arena
This is a guided studio class with experienced watercolorist, Debbie Myers. Students will bring personal projects to work on and receive guidance on. This is not a beginner’s class, it is strictly studio time.
Price: $75 for members/$90 for non-members
The Lafayette County Arena is located at 70 F.D. Buddy East Parkway (70 County Road 406). This road connects Hwy 6 to Hwy 334 by the Lafayette County Schools. The class will be held in the large classroom. Enter through the MS State Extension Services Entrance (glass doors on the left).

Works may be viewed anytime Monday-Friday from 9-5 at the Powerhouse,
and after hours during special events. The show will be feature until December 19th.

2019 Biggest, Baddest Art Show!
Over 60 original works of all media are on display. 33 different artists are featured in this show.
A meet the artists' reception will be held on Tuesday, November 12 from 6 PM - 8 PM. Winners from the juried show will be announced, and a chance to vote for your favorite piece will be available until 7:30 PM.
