Bozart's New Show



2012 Visual Art Competition Southern Heritage Foundation

CATEGORIES:
1. Art from Nature - three-dimensional art from natural materials and resources
2. Nature Photography - photos from various Vicksburg/Delta landscapes
3. Drawings of Vicksburg and/or the Mississippi Delta - pencil or charcoal drawings of individuals, animals, plants, the river or architecture
4. Watercolors – watercolor painting of Vicksburg/Delta Landscape
5. Sculpting - modeling clay or wood carvings of a signature Vicksburg person or landscape
6. Recycled Art - an art piece or reusable item using materials that would have otherwise been discarded
7. Jewelry – made of natural stones and/or unique materials
8. Nature Table Settings – centerpieces or candle holder made entirely of natural resources
Artwork Submissions can be delivered beginning Monday, July 2 until Monday, July 16 to the Southern Cultural Heritage Center.
Each art submission must be properly titled and labeled.
1st, 2nd and 3rd place awards will be issued for each age group for each category.
For judging, each category is divided by age (ages 6 and under; ages 7-12, ages 13-18, Adult)
Judging will be based on: Use of materials, Creativity, Originality, Level of Effort
Judging will take place in the historic Southern Cultural Heritage Auditorium, on Thursday, July 19th with an open viewing and award ceremony from 6:30 – 7:30pm.
All placed winners will be exhibited at the Hobbs Freeman Arts and Nature Festival on Saturday, November 3rd.

You are invited to be part of the Hobbs Freeman Arts and Nature Festival “Art Round the Center”. This show will feature a variety of vendors demonstrating their talents on site and selling their work. “Art Round the Center” will be held outdoors on Crawford Street in front of the Southern Cultural Heritage Center. Along with art vendors, the entire Center will showcase musical entertainment, exhibits, workshops, speakers, and much more during the one day festival.


(10x10) Exhibit space $40 (Member), $50 (Non-Member)

Regulations
• Items must be of original, unique work or design.
• The vendor must be present during all show hours – If a vendor breaks down before the show ends, they will not be invited back the following year.
• Set-up for the show will be Saturday, November 3, 6am-9am and Saturday. Break-down will be immediately following the show (4:00-6:00pm)
Application Process
To be considered, vendor applications must be postmarked no later than July 1st. Vendors will be notified no later than August 1th with an acceptance letter. No refunds will be issued for cancellations if you are accepted to the show.
Acceptance to the Show will not be based solely on “first-come, first serve”. This includes space assignments. Space is limited and acceptance to the Show will be based on the images of the crafts/art submitted with the application. Demonstrations are required for acceptance to the show. Although specific space requests will be considered, spaces will be assigned by the Review Committee.

• Application form completed and signed.
• Two images of crafts/artwork (JPG on CD or prints accepted) or website where items can be viewed.
• Please include description of how the art/craft will be produced on site
• Include a self-addressed, stamped envelope (with adequate postage) if you would like your images returned.

I want to help you build a strong foundation in art by teaching you the use of
fundamental concepts that you need to be able to draw well and by teaching you
how to see differently. Then I want to teach you about color: principles, theories,
values, intensities, & color harmonies.

Color Class
Learn how to accurately
perceive, combine, and
use the beauty of color
with simple techniques
that can improve your ability to
paint. This class includes an intro to color theory,
color mixing and color harmony exercises. Color
principles apply to all mediums. You will be able to
look at a color after this class and know
Drawing Classes
You absolutely CAN learn to draw. I will teach you to
draw well by teaching you how to see differently.
These classes are based on Betty Edwards’ book,
The New Drawing On The Right Side Of The Brain.
All of the basic skills you need to draw well are
covered in this course. I have been teaching
drawing for 25+ years and I am still thrilled to see
each student’s progress and amazement when they
realize that they CAN draw! These classes are open
to anyone 12 or older who has never drawn or who
wants to improve their drawing skills. $170 for
the 10 lesson course with a $50 deposit required to
hold your place.
I am offering the same class at two different times
to accommodate busy schedules. All the drawing
classes have a limit of 10 students
Drawing Class Schedule
WEEKLY CLASSES Mondays - 10 weeks

June 4 through Aug. 6
5:30 to 8 Germantown Hobby Lobby

Part 2 of this class (5 classes) will be
taught in the Fall.
Pastel Workshop
This is a fabulous opportunity to learn everything you wanted to
know about pastels. I lecture and demonstrate on Friday evening
and you will get hands-on experience by doing a painting from the
still life setup on Saturday - which you take home!
All supplied are included!
The workshop will be held at my studio. Limited to 8 people.
$125 for the workshop, $65 deposit required.
Friday, Aug. 17 - 6:30 to 9
Saturday, Aug. 18 - 9:30 to 4:30
On-going classes
Saturdays - from 9 to 12. These classes are tailored to each individualʼs needs and are for
students who desire to go beyond the basics and those who want to work on their own personal
projects. You can come ANY Saturday or EVERY Saturday. Each student will receive individual
attention at their easel. $25 per class. Limited to 8 people. Call to reserve your easel.
Wednesdays - from 6 to 9. No instruction. Draw/paint from the nude or portrait model.
$12 per class. Call to reserve your easel.
Private Lessons are available in my studio @$40 per hour. Time will be arranged at our
mutual convenience. Private lessons may be shared by two people.
