Oxford’s Art Crawl Returns for the Summer
You asked for it, and we‘re going to give it to you.
Oxford, Miss. – What started out as a seasonal event has become a requested monthly night out. The sponsors and hosts of the Oxford Art Crawl received so many request to continue the event during the summer that the once a month event will become a monthly event on the fourth Tuesday. The Double Decker bus will transport visitors from the Powerhouse, Gallery 130, and Southside Gallery, and the University Museum to enjoy the wonderful works created by local and nationally recognized artists. Picture yourself with a cocktail in your hand, best friend right beside you, and some of the most creative artwork in your view.
Oxford is the home to many thriving artists. The Art Crawl is a chance to discover a new artist or a treasure from the Museum’s vault and spread around the word. What better way to wrap up your Tuesday than by riding the top of Double Decker with your friends in the cool summer air with stops at the cultural hot spots of Oxford.
When the Art Crawl was initiated it planned to be seasonal. The demand for the event following the end of the first season had the organizers rethinking the schedule. The organizers will host the first Art Crawl of the summer on Tuesday, June 28th from 7pm-9pm. The featured stops will include Gallery 130, Southside Gallery, University Museum and The Powerhouse along with one night only shows at Cicada, Dovetail, Amelia’s, and The Ford Center.
The Art Crawl’s aim is to raise awareness of the vibrant art community that exists in Oxford and Lafayette County. Visitors will have the opportunity to park at one location and be transported between the locations. Each location will host a reception from 7-9 p.m. where visitors can look at the art work, have a snack, grab a cocktail, and enjoy Oxford’s nightlife. The Oxford Art Crawl is sponsored by the Oxford Convention & Tourism Bureau. For more information on the Oxford Art Crawl visit www.oxfordcvb.com or call 662-232-2367.
