Oxford is launching its second monthly art crawl highlighting the private galleries, museums and community art spaces.
Oxford, Miss. –After great success from the first art crawl, Oxford will be hosting its second monthly art crawl with a traditional double-decker bus transporting people from Southside Gallery, the Powerhouse, Frame Up Gallery, Gallery 130 and the University Museum on April 26th, 2011.
“We were so excited by the response the first time and hope that people who attended will be inviting others and that the event will build in popularity,” Wayne Andrews, director of the Yoknapatawpha Arts Council said.
Traditionally, the museum, gallery and exhibit spaces each held separate receptions. The organizers hope that through coordinating receptions, the scale of the event will bring visitors to enjoy the openings and the nightlife in Oxford. Visitors of the monthly art crawl will be able to park in one location and enjoy a ride on the historic double-decker bus to each venue, which will each host a reception from 7-9 p.m.Visitors will have a chance to meet with the artists, enjoy a glass of wine and walk the Oxford Square.
This month, there will also be a feature tasting from City Grocery and beer from Lazy Magnolia at Southside Gallery, Taylor Grocery catfish and Cathead Vodka at the Powerhouse as well as food from Lenora’s at the University Museum. Additionally, there will be fringe exhibits set up at Amelia’s Presents, Holli’s Sweet Tooth, Cicada and in Faulkner’s Alley.
