OAG Minutes ...

Members of the OAG gathered at the Brilliant Easel on March 21st for our meeting. Snacks and drinks were offered followed by a welcome and introduction of new members: Tom Bullion, a potter and Billy Martin a painter. 26 members present.

The minutes of the previous meeting were read by Janet Barnes, Secretary and approved.

Anne Gilstrap, our treasurer reported that there was basically no change in the treasury. She reminded the group to pay dues and show fees for the upcoming show in April.

Old Business:

Janet Barnes reported on the success of the Library show which received many complements and most stating that it was our best show ever. Several pieces were sold during the show.

Nancy Moore reported on the upcoming Spring Show on the 28th. Spaces will be marked off and coupons are available for those who wish to discount their work. Spaces are 9 x 10. Cars need to be removed from the show area to allow parking for the public. You can park behind the courthouse and in a public lot but not at the Downtown Inn.

Lois Arrechea reported on the show publicity with several newspaper ads and a banner at the First National Bank .

Andi Bedsworth showed a beautiful sign made by Lizzie Oglesby, that Andi was going to have at the Lyric Theater Thursday and Friday and at the Nutt Auditorium Saturday for publicity.

New Business:

Danny and Joan Vaughn offered their studio for our June 20th meeting and social.

Program:

Nancy Moore introduced our speaker Max Hipp, President and CEO of the Oxford Chamber of Commerce and Economic Foundation who told us about the chamber, the benefits and recognition for us by joining the COC. It has a web site and blog in which we can participate. He stated that we are in a federally designated area "the Appalachian Highway Corridor". The cost is $100.00 per year for an individual or non profit group like OAG. Caren Vitell moved that we join the COC and Andi seconded the motion which was voted on and approved.

Carol Smith, an oil painter was approved for membership.
